Aviation flight diversions in Europe

Overview

A series of aviation incidents involving flight diversions has been reported across Europe.

In mid-September, an Eurowings flight from Ibiza to Düsseldorf diverted to Toulouse, France, following a loading error involving unaccompanied baggage. The aircraft eventually landed in Cologne due to night flight restrictions. Concurrently, an EasyJet flight from Basel to Marrakesh diverted to Málaga, Spain, to address a medical emergency on board.

By late September, further diversions occurred on transatlantic routes. A Delta Air Lines flight traveling from Dublin to New York returned to Dublin after issuing a ‘squawk 7700’ emergency code due to a passenger medical situation. Additionally, a Virgin Atlantic flight departing Manchester for New York was forced to return to Manchester after encountering an unspecified technical issue at 10,000 feet.
