Avignon Festival 2026 cultural events

In mid‑July, Avignon’s summer dance festival "On (y) danse aussi l'été !" was winding down, showcasing seven contemporary works and stressing socially resonant choreography. At the same time, the 60th Festival Off Avignon reported a rise in ticket sales, delivering 279,000 tickets and providing thousands of solidarity seats, while the WYPPAM program gathered over fifty young performing‑arts professionals from fourteen countries for training and exchange.

A week later, the Avignon Festival opened a new program with the early‑morning event "L’Aube des questions" in the Palais des Papes courtyard. Directed by Tiago Rodrigues and coordinated with historians and journalists, the performance brought together artists, scientists, philosophers and public figures to foster democratic debate and renewal. The same period saw South Korean group IVE stage a high‑energy concert on their world tour in Montreal, underscoring the festival’s broader emphasis on international cultural exchange.
