Azerbaijan‑Turkmenistan cooperation with Kyrgyzstan
Entities: Azerbaijan · Central Asian states · Azerbaijan‑Kyrgyz Investment Fund · Kyrgyz Republic · Sadyr Japarov
Overview
In late July 2026, President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan visited Kyrgyzstan, signing a suite of bilateral agreements on energy, transport, cyber‑security, education, finance and precious‑metal trade. A key outcome was the decision to double the capital of the Azerbaijan‑Kyrgyz Investment Fund to up to US$200 million, signalling a new phase of economic collaboration.
A few days later, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov of Turkmenistan also travelled to the Kyrgyz Republic, joining an informal summit of Central Asian heads of state that included Azerbaijan. He stressed deeper political, economic and cultural ties to bolster regional stability and highlighted Turkmenistan’s neutral foreign‑policy stance. The meeting set the stage for another summit of the same participants planned for October in Turkmenistan, indicating a broader, ongoing push for coordinated regional cooperation among the three nations.
