Azores regional land management plan revision
Overview
The Azores Government has initiated a public tender to revise the Regional Land Management Plan (PROTA). The project, estimated at approximately 360,000 euros, is expected to take 36 months to execute.
The revision comes 16 years after the current plan was implemented. Officials noted that the existing instrument contains inconsistencies with current European, national, and regional policies, and no longer aligns with the territorial evolution of the Azores. The update is a key objective of the LIFE IP CLIMAZ project, co-financed by the European Union.
Regional Secretary for Agriculture and Food, António Ventura, described the update as a fundamental step toward creating a management tool capable of addressing regional challenges in the coming decades.
