Bac Lieu land management investigation

Overview

An inspection in Bac Lieu province has identified significant violations concerning land management and the issuance of land use certificates. Authorities have recommended transferring four specific cases to the police for criminal investigation following the conclusion of inspection number 73/KL-TTT.

The findings highlight issues with a cadastral database project and the management of land use rights certificates, including nearly 92,000 certificates that were not delivered to rightful owners in Gia Rai town and several districts, as well as registration delays in Vinh Loi district.

Additionally, reports indicate that 29 former officials in Bac Lieu have not yet undergone the recommended formal self-criticism or disciplinary reviews. This includes five former leaders of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment who served between 2016 and 2020. Despite recommendations to provincial leadership, formal disciplinary actions have not been implemented.
