Overview

Baja California experienced a significant surge in tourism during the Labor Day holiday weekend. In Playas de Rosarito, the Asociación de Hoteles y Moteles de Playas de Rosarito (AMHM) reported that occupancy reached 100 percent on Saturday, September 5, with rates of 71 percent on Friday and 81 percent on Sunday. AMHM president César Rivera González attributed these results to improved service quality and targeted promotion in Southern California.

Regional data indicates over 258,000 vehicles passed through toll plazas between September 4 and September 6. Traffic was highest in Playas de Tijuana, followed by Rosarito and Ensenada. Occupancy rates remained near-maximum across the region, with Playas de Rosarito at 97.76 percent, Tijuana at 95.67 percent, and Ensenada at 90 percent. Additionally, tourism assistance operations saw a 43 percent increase compared to previous years.

In Playas de Rosarito, Municipal President Rocío Adame Muñoz also conducted a tour of the historic Hotel Rosarito to recognize its cultural and historical importance to the municipality and the broader tourism industry.
