Bali immigration enforcement operations
Overview
Immigration authorities in Bali have conducted enforcement operations targeting foreign nationals for various violations.
In North Kuta, an Australian man was apprehended at Ngurah Rai Airport following reports of a public sex act. While the homeowners declined to press criminal charges, the case was referred to immigration officials, who designated him as a ‘Subject of Interest.’
In separate operations in the Ubud and Sanur areas, the Denpasar Immigration Office conducted surveillance patrols of entertainment venues in coordination with local police. During these patrols, officials detained two Nigerian nationals. One individual attempted to flee from officers before being caught. Subsequent checks revealed that one man had overstayed his visa by 379 days, while the second individual failed to produce valid immigration documents. R. Haryo Sakti, Head of the Denpasar Immigration Office, stated that the patrols were intended to “ensure legal compliance and maintain security in areas with high foreign national activity.”
