Balkan law enforcement recruitment and training updates

Overview

Law enforcement agencies in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Croatia are expanding their personnel and updating training protocols.

In Serbia, the Ministry of Internal Affairs launched a recruitment drive for 1,000 trainees, including general, traffic, and border police. Simultaneously, the Tuzla Canton in Bosnia and Herzegovina announced a call to hire 300 new officers.

Efforts to modernize training have also emerged. The Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs in Bosnia and Herzegovina introduced new curriculum subjects focused on ‘Domestic Violence, Juvenile Delinquency, and Gender-Based Violence’ to improve professional care for victims. In Croatia, 670 new officers completed training under a modernized modular curriculum that emphasized practical experience at border crossings and various police administrations.
