Bangr-Wéogo Urban Park rehabilitation

Overview

Rehabilitation of the Bangr-Wéogo Urban Park in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, has officially commenced. The project, valued at approximately 75 billion FCFA, began with an initial phase of 18 sub-projects funded by 5 billion FCFA in internal resources. Key works include the construction of modern entrance gates, the reconstruction of ten kilometers of park fencing with surveillance systems, and the creation of a 750-seat multipurpose hall. The park's menagerie, housing animals such as elephants, lions, and hippopotamuses, is also slated for renovation.

As the project progresses, the park remains open to the public. However, the Direction des Aménagements Paysagers et de la Gestion des Parcs has implemented temporary changes to access points, including the relocation of the SOTRACO and Administration entrances. Visitors are instructed to follow safety signage during the construction period.
