Bari tourism and local development initiatives

Overview

The Municipality of Bari has initiated several programs to diversify the city’s tourism and support local commerce in coastal and peripheral neighborhoods.

In late September, the city launched ‘Le Feste di Santomare 2026’, a series of free concerts, cultural events, and sporting activities. This initiative, starting in Santo Spirito and moving to Torre a Mare and San Girolamo, aims to animate coastal districts outside the summer season. Councilor Pietro Petruzzelli noted the format is intended to be “innovative and replicable” to support businesses away from the city center.

Following this, the city introduced the ‘A More Bari’ project to expand the tourist geography through free experiential itineraries in Ceglie del Campo, San Paolo, and San Girolamo. Additionally, the digital platform ‘Tourisfit’ was announced to promote sports tourism across Italy, Albania, and Montenegro, utilizing interactive maps to connect users with sporting opportunities and local organizations in the Adriatic region.
