Basilicata regional tourism promotion

Overview

Tourism promotion efforts in the Basilicata region have focused on digital storytelling and innovative marketing campaigns. In early October 2026, the IgersMeet Nazionale event was held in Matera, gathering 60 digital content creators to document regional landscapes, heritage sites like the Sassi of Matera and Craco, and local culinary traditions through photography and participatory communication.

Following this, the region presented its “Basilicata Motherland. Patrimonio Vivo” campaign at TTG 2026. This initiative, which was recognized as Italy’s best regional tourism campaign for the summer of 2026, utilizes generative artificial intelligence and body painting to create “body-landscapes” across locations such as the Pollino forests and Maratea. The campaign includes a bilingual volume titled “Basilicata Motherland” to further promote the region.
