Bauchi State governance and security issues

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has addressed several security and environmental challenges within the state. Initially, the governor focused on counter-terrorism efforts, praising security agencies for an intelligence-led operation in the Alkaleri Local Government Area. This operation dismantled terrorist camps in Mansur village and neutralized criminal elements, enabling displaced residents to return to their homes. Following this, the governor directed security forces to intensify patrols and surveillance in border communities.

More recently, the administration has shifted focus toward climate-related issues and agricultural policy. Governor Mohammed requested federal assistance to combat flooding and gully erosion affecting approximately 1,800 communities. Additionally, he suspended the state’s livestock right-of-way policy, citing poor enforcement and inadequate stakeholder sensitization. He has called for a policy review involving security agencies, traditional institutions, and farmers' associations to prevent clashes between herders and farmers.
