Bavaria regional cuisine awards

In late July 2026, Bavaria’s Ministry of Nutrition, Agriculture, Forestry and Tourism, together with the hotel‑restaurant association DEHOGA Bayern, held a ceremony honoring 29 gastronomy establishments and 19 festival‑tent operators for excellence in regional, seasonal and original cuisine. The "GenussKüche" awards recognised outstanding regional kitchens, beer culture and festival tents, emphasizing the use of local products and promoting Bavarian culinary heritage under the "Genuss Bayern – Heimat des Guten" brand.

A few days later, the ministry announced a complementary culinary programme in Garmisch‑Partenkirchen, "GaPa schmeckt’s", scheduled for November‑December 2026. The event will feature six top local chefs creating seasonal menus that highlight Bavarian flavors, with participation from restaurants such as Husar and the 4Eck. The programme coincides with the awards, which also recognised four establishments from Swabia in categories like "Excellent GenussKüche" and "Excellent Beer Culture". Both the awards ceremony and the Garmisch‑Partenkirchen event aim to showcase Bavarian regional cuisine, support local producers, and reinforce the region’s food heritage.
