Bayern Munich executive contract extensions

Bayern Munich leadership underwent a period of contract stabilization in August 2026. Initially, honorary president Uli Hoeneß expressed strong support for sporting director Max Eberl, stating the likelihood of a contract extension was “100 percent.” Eberl indicated he was prepared to discuss terms following these remarks.

By late August, the club’s supervisory board officially extended the contracts of both Max Eberl and chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen until June 30, 2029. Supervisory board chairman Herbert Hainer noted that these extensions were intended to ensure continuity and stability for the club as it competes at a high international level, providing “direction and strength” within a dynamic competitive environment.

Jan-Christian Dreesen, who has been with the club since 2013 and assumed the CEO role in 2023, expressed commitment to maintaining the club’s status as a top European competitor. Max Eberl, who joined the board in March 2024, noted his personal connection to the club dating back to his time in their youth setup. He expressed pride in the extension, viewing it as a product of his work despite previous criticisms regarding communication and squad management.
