BBVA and eDreams strategic travel and finance alliance

Overview

BBVA Digital Banks has entered into a strategic alliance with eDreams ODIGEO to integrate digital banking services with travel experiences. The partnership is set to launch initially in Germany and Italy.

In the first phase in Germany, BBVA customers will receive one year of Opodo Prime Plus at no cost, a subscription providing discounts on various travel services including flights, hotels, trains, and car rentals. Furthermore, BBVA Germany customers will be able to make card payments in foreign currencies without incurring exchange fees.

Murat Kalkan, Global Head of BBVA Digital Banks, described the agreement as the start of a “long-term collaboration to explore integrated finance and travel products.” Frédéric Esclapez, Chief Marketing Officer of eDreams ODIGEO, noted that the alliance aims to explore new opportunities at the intersection of the finance and travel sectors.
