BC Transit service updates in Fraser Valley

BC Transit has introduced several updates to its services in the Fraser Valley region of British Columbia.

In late July 2026, the agency began a soft rollout of a new booking platform for its handyDART door-to-door service in Chilliwack and the Central Fraser Valley. Developed with the company Spare, the technology allows riders and caregivers to manage reservations, view real-time bus locations, and receive notifications via phone, website, or mobile app. This digital upgrade aims to improve reliability and data collection, though eligibility and service areas remain unchanged.

Following this technological update, BC Transit announced service and fare adjustments effective September 2026. In Abbotsford and Mission, single ride fares will increase from $2.50 to $2.75, and the DayPASS will rise from $5.00 to $5.50. In Chilliwack, fares for both conventional and handyDART riders will increase from $2.25 to $2.50.

Operational changes include the reopening of the Highstreet Mall Exchange to improve route connections and the modification or reintroduction of several routes for the fall school semester. Some seasonal adjustments will also occur, including the discontinuation of service on Route 56 Cultus Lake and Sunday service on Route 71 Agassiz-Harrison.
