Belgrade Expo 2027 panoramic balloon introduction

A new panoramic balloon attraction is being introduced at Ada Ciganlija in Belgrade to promote Expo 2027. The balloon, produced by the French company Aerophile, is designed to carry up to 30 passengers to an altitude of 150 meters, providing views of the city, the Sava River, and the future Expo site.

Following initial plans for the attraction to begin flights within approximately ten days of early October, a test flight featuring the colors of Expo 2027 was successfully conducted. Igor Kovačević, Executive Director of Expo 2027, noted that the attraction aims to align with the Expo theme of “exploring new perspectives.”

To protect local ecology, flight operations include restrictions to avoid disturbing protected bird species. While initial reports suggested daily suspensions between 14:30 and 15:30 to protect the Little Owl, subsequent details indicate the balloon will not reach its full altitude between November 1 and March 31 to avoid interfering with the flight paths of the Little Whimbrel.
