Ben Shelton and Trinity Rodman public relationship
Overview
American athletes Ben Shelton and Trinity Rodman have drawn significant media attention for their public support of one another during professional competitions. As Shelton prepared for the Mubadala DC Open, the couple made several public appearances, including at Shelton's victory at the BOSS Open in Germany. During the DC Open, Rodman attended Shelton's round-of-16 match, following which Shelton reached the quarterfinals before being eliminated by Alejandro Tabilo. The support continued as Shelton transitioned to the Canadian Open. Rodman visited Shelton at his hotel prior to his round-of-16 victory over Joao Fonseca, where Shelton's world ranking improved to number 10. As Shelton prepared for a US Open quarterfinal match against Carlos Alcaraz, he credited his relationship with Rodman as a vital component of his professional success. Shelton, 23, noted that having a partner who understands the unique lifestyle and demands of a professional athlete has been an inspiring factor in his development on the tennis circuit. The couple has been in a relationship for over a year and a half. Following Shelton’s quarterfinal victory over Alcaraz at the U.S. Open, a video of Rodman’s reaction to Shelton omitting her from his post-match speech went viral. While some speculated she was upset, body language experts suggested her reaction was intended as a joke. Rodman, a soccer player for the Washington Spirit, has emphasized that understanding the psychological pressures of high-level competition is a key factor in their ability to support one another. On September 14, 2026, following Shelton's competition in the US Open final, the couple visited pediatric cancer patients at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center in New York. Following Shelton’s recent run to the U.S. Open men’s final, the couple has faced challenges maintaining their relationship due to the demands of their respective professional schedules.
