Benfica attacking squad rotation

Benfica manager Marco Silva has addressed the team’s attacking rotation following the recent form of winger Dodi Lukebakio. After Lukebakio performed well in the UEFA Nations League, scoring against Italy and France, Silva indicated that the player’s hard work would likely lead to more playing time due to upcoming fixture congestion.

By late October, Silva clarified that there is no established hierarchy between Lukebakio and other players like Rafa. He noted that selection depends on tactical requirements and specific opponent profiles. Silva also expressed an intention to strengthen the squad by adding another player to that position in the future to increase options.

Ahead of a match against Alverca at the Estádio da Luz, Silva reiterated that he will not establish a hierarchy between Lukebakio and Rafa, noting that both players offer different characteristics. He stated that decisions will depend on the specific strategy required for the opponent. Lukebakio has recently seen increased interest following a strong performance in the Taça da Liga.
