Overview

At Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER), Brandenburg Transport Minister Robert Crumbach has rejected proposals to expand or relax the existing night flight ban. Crumbach stated that the current planning approval is difficult to establish and that the airport is not yet approaching capacity limits.

Under current regulations, only low-noise aircraft are permitted to fly between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM. Regular operations are suspended between midnight and 5:00 AM, with specific windows reserved for handling delays or early arrivals. While the Berlin Linke party has campaigned for a full ban during the 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM window, and Berlin Mayor Kai Wegner suggested more flexibility, the ministry intends to maintain the status quo. Exceptions for individual cases, such as weather-related delays, remain possible.
