Bernard Nguene career progression at Standard de Liège

Overview

Bernard Nguene, a 20-year-old Cameroonian striker playing for Standard de Liège, has expressed his ambition to join the Cameroon national team, the Lions Indomptables. Having previously played for Cameroon’s youth categories, Nguene aims to establish himself in Belgium to earn a senior call-up.

Following his development at the club, Standard de Liège officially extended Nguene’s contract until June 30, 2029, with an option for an additional season. Since joining from OGC Nice in February 2026, Nguene has become an increasingly important figure for the squad. Sporting official Marc Wilmots stated the new deal rewards a “young, hard-working and determined attacker” who has become a key part of the core squad.
