Bioceanic Bridge construction and development

The Bioceanic Bridge, a strategic infrastructure project designed to connect Paraguay and Brazil, has reached significant technical and legislative milestones.

Initial developments focused on structural integrity, with the JYI Consortium conducting specialized aerodynamic testing on scale models at the Politecnico di Milano in Italy. These wind tunnel tests were intended to simulate high-intensity wind scenarios, allowing engineers to calibrate structural designs and incorporate findings before the finalization of the executive project. To ensure long-term safety, the bridge is planned to feature an intelligent sensor system for real-time monitoring of weather and vehicle loads.

As the project enters its final construction stages, the bridge—which will link Carmelo Peralta in Paraguay to Porto Murtinho in Brazil—has been officially named. Brazilian federal legislation has designated the structure in honor of Heitor Miranda dos Santos, the former mayor of Porto Murtinho. The bridge serves as a vital component of the broader Bioceanic Route, an ambitious corridor intended to integrate Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina, and Chile.
