Bioceanic Bridge infrastructure development
Overview
Construction is underway on the access roads for the Bioceanic Bridge, an international infrastructure project funded by Itaipú to connect Paraguay and Brazil. As part of the broader Bioceanic Corridor, the project aims to link Atlantic and Pacific ports to facilitate regional cargo transport.
As of late August, the access road construction has reached a 23% global progress rate. Work is being conducted in both urban and rural sectors. In the urban area of Carmelo Peralta, crews are installing rigid pavement for a double avenue and constructing drainage systems, such as culverts and open channels, to prevent flooding. In rural areas, activities include piling, foundation work, embankment formation, and the installation of pumping lines.
