Royal biographer and expert Ingrid Seward has provided new insights into the personal life and marriage of Princess Diana. In her recent writings, Seward explores the complexities of Diana’s relationship with King Charles III, noting that while the couple were “fundamentally mismatched,” Charles reportedly felt “significant guilt regarding the failure” of the marriage.

Seward suggests that Diana believed the relationship might have succeeded had they met at an older age and claims Diana maintained a lasting love for Charles. The biographer also alleges that Diana intentionally withheld the sex of her pregnancy with Prince Harry from Charles because he had expressed a desire for a daughter. While the period leading up to Harry’s birth was described as one of the closest times in the marriage, Seward notes the relationship deteriorated rapidly afterward.

Regarding her children, Seward reports that Diana insisted Princes William and Harry understand that King Charles III loved her.
