Blauer Panther media awards ceremony and results
Overview
The 2026 Blauer Panther media awards (formerly the Bavarian Television Award) have concluded, celebrating excellence in television, streaming, and social media. The ceremony was held at BMW Welt in Munich during the Munich Media Days, hosted by Esther Sedlaczek.
Prior to the gala, the jury announced nominees for Best Actress, including Derya Akyol for ‘Euphorie’, Via Jikeli for ‘High Stakes’, and Magdalena Laubisch for ‘Die Nichte des Polizisten’. Johannes B. Kerner was selected to receive the Bavarian Prime Minister’s honorary award, an announcement made by Minister President Markus Söder during a recording of ‘Der Quiz-Champion’.
During the fifth annual ceremony, Söder presented the honorary award to Kerner, whom he described as ‘our Mr. TV’. Kerner used his acceptance to express support for Munich hosting future Olympic Games, stating such an event can serve as ‘glue for an entire society’.
The event featured several recipients using their platform for political commentary. Best Actor winner Johannes Hegemann, recognized for the ZDF film ‘Olivia’, called for a ‘clear distinction from the AfD’ and urged the protection of minorities. Streamer Marcant was named the most popular social media personality for his engagement with right-wing demonstrators, while actor Jonathan Berlin delivered a speech describing the current era as ‘dark times’ and emphasizing the need to defend democracy and human rights.
