Boca Juniors La Bombonera stadium expansion

Boca Juniors has introduced a comprehensive master plan to expand and renovate the La Bombonera stadium. Led by the administration of Juan Román Riquelme, the project aims to increase spectator capacity from approximately 57,000 to over 80,000.

To achieve this growth without acquiring neighboring residential properties, the club intends to shift the pitch four meters toward the railway tracks. This reconfiguration will allow for the expansion of the preferential seating sector from 3,000 to 9,500 seats. Structural plans include the construction of a fourth tier to add roughly 6,000 seats and the reconfiguration of existing upper tiers to add another 12,000 spots.

Beyond capacity increases, the renovation includes significant infrastructure upgrades. These involve constructing a 1,000-square-meter slab beneath the ‘La 12’ stand to widen circulation corridors, creating a new food court, tripling sanitary facilities, and establishing a medical assistance center. Additional amenities planned for the stadium include a new roof for upper sections, a 360-degree LED screen, and a renovated main entrance. The club has reportedly secured necessary approvals from the National Commission for Transport Regulation (CNRT) and Ferrosur Roca SA to proceed with works near the railway lines.
