Bogotá Metro Line 1 development
Overview
The development of Bogotá’s first Metro Line is progressing through both physical construction and public engagement initiatives.
As of late August 2026, construction of the line is 82.33% complete. Infrastructure milestones include the completion of 17 of the planned 24 kilometers of viaduct. Additionally, 17 trains have arrived in the city and are undergoing operational testing at a workshop in the Bosa district. The project is currently scheduled to begin operations in March 2028.
In tandem with construction, the city has launched ‘Vocímetro’, a public initiative allowing residents to participate in defining the sonic identity of Metro Line 1. Through an online platform, citizens can vote on announcement voices, coexistence messages, and ambient sounds to be used in trains and stations.
