Bogotá social assistance and housing programs

Overview

The Bogotá District administration has implemented new social assistance measures targeting housing and elderly care.

In early September, the city launched a rent subsidy program providing over 1 million pesos to eligible residents. To qualify, applicants must earn no more than one minimum monthly wage, possess a valid lease, and not own property within the national territory. Application sessions were scheduled throughout September across several localities, including Suba, Santa Fe, Ciudad Bolívar, Kennedy, and Chapinero.

Concurrently, the Mayor’s Office inaugurated the Nuevo Renacer Day-Night Transitory Care Center in the Fontibón locality. This facility provides 75 permanent spots for elderly individuals who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, offering accommodation, nutrition, and psychosocial support. This expansion increases the city’s total Day-Night Transitory Care Network capacity by 16%, bringing the total number of available spots to 415 across five operational units.
