Bowling Green women's soccer 2026 season progress

Overview

The Bowling Green State University women’s soccer team began its 2026 season with an exhibition match against the Purdue Boilermakers at Cochrane Stadium. Purdue won the match 3-1, with goals from Rosa Maalouf and Megan Santa Cruz, while Lizzie Bulty scored the lone goal for the Falcons. Head coach Chris Fox noted the match served to “test the squad and identify areas for improvement.” Prior to the game, Fox announced the signing of Canadian forward/midfielder Mia Ugarte, a former Canada U-17 national team player, to the roster.

On August 16, the Falcons opened their regular season with a 2-0 victory against Robert Morris University. Isabella Mazzaferro scored in the 75th minute following a cross from Alexis Tsaprailis, who recorded an assist in her first appearance after missing 16 games last season due to a torn ACL. Taylor Green added a second goal late in the match via a corner kick from Emme Butera. Goalkeeper Lexi Grundler earned a clean sheet in her collegiate debut. This victory marks the program’s third consecutive regular-season opener win.

Following the opener, Bowling Green secured a 1-0 victory against Oakland University. Senior captain Taylor Green scored approximately thirty minutes into the match to provide the winning margin. The Falcons recorded 15 shot attempts compared to Oakland’s two, while goalkeeper Payton O’Malley recorded a shutout.

On September 12, the Falcons secured a 2-0 victory over the University of Detroit Mercy. Senior Ella Kane scored in the 21st minute, and freshman Mia Ugarte added a goal just before halftime. The team dominated the match with 25 shots compared to six from the Titans.
