Brazil is experiencing a significant rise in egg consumption and production. Projections from the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA) initially estimated that consumption would reach a record 301 units per inhabitant in 2026, a 4.5% increase from 2025 levels. This growth reflects a long-term dietary shift, as consumption has nearly doubled since 2010.

By late 2026, data from Instituto Ovos Brasil indicated that annual domestic consumption reached 310 eggs per inhabitant. This surge has helped solidify Brazil’s position as the world’s fourth-largest egg producer and sixth-largest consumer.

The industry is diversifying its production methods to include conventional, cage-free, free-range, and organic systems, as well as nutrient-enriched products. To manage these developments, the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) monitors labeling and technical denominations. Furthermore, the sector is expanding its global presence, with ABPA reporting that egg exports reached 40,894 tons in 2025, a 121% increase over the previous year.
