Overview

The São Paulo Public Prosecutor's Office (MP-SP) launched an operation to dismantle a criminal network operating a financial pyramid scheme. The investigation seeks to recover approximately R$ 500 million stolen from over 2,000 victims throughout Brazil.

According to authorities, the group attracted investors by promising high returns through a fictitious gold trading business in the international mineral market. Rather than investing the funds, the organization allegedly used the capital to fund the lavish lifestyles of its leaders and to pay fraudulent returns to early participants to maintain an illusion of legitimacy. Law enforcement executed 13 search and seizure warrants across São Paulo, Greater São Paulo, and Rio de Janeiro.
