Overview
Brazil is expanding its specialized transport capacity for healthcare and social assistance through various levels of government.
Initially, Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus completed a large-scale delivery of 1,500 micro-buses to the Brazilian Ministry of Health. This delivery supports the ‘Caminhos da Saúde’ program, which aims to assist approximately 2 million patients within the Unified Health System (SUS) by facilitating travel for specialized medical consultations and treatments.
Following this national initiative, individual municipalities have also implemented localized vehicle acquisitions. In Piên, the Health Secretariat acquired Ford Transit vans to transport residents for medical procedures, while in Sorriso, an adapted 15-seat van was provided to the Lar Bem Viver institution to assist elderly residents with medical appointments and leisure activities.
