Brazil winter gastronomy festivals

In late July 2026, Nova Friburgo launched its winter gastronomy festival, running from 23 July to 30 August. The event required participating restaurants to feature at least one regional ingredient—such as mushrooms, artisanal cheeses, strawberries, native honey, ora‑pro‑nóbis, or fermented breads—highlighting local farms and aiming to boost winter tourism in the Serra mountain region.

A week later, the nearby city of Blumenau announced its own cultural program, the Texneo Novum Festival, alongside the first gastronomy festival in the Nova Rússia district, scheduled for 13 August to 30 August. Like Nova Friburgo, the Nova Rússia event encourages restaurants to showcase winter‑season dishes to strengthen the area's culinary identity and attract visitors.

Together, these initiatives illustrate a growing trend of Brazilian municipalities using winter food festivals to promote local producers, shorten supply chains, and enhance seasonal tourism.
