Brazilian coffee industry developments
Overview
The Brazilian coffee industry is experiencing developments in both sustainability infrastructure and consumer-facing retail activity.
Technological and environmental initiatives have introduced the ‘Origem Controlada Café’ platform, a collaborative effort involving Sebrae, the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (MDIC), ABDI, and CNA. This platform enables consumers to track specialty coffee origins via QR codes, having already processed over 1 million packages. Additionally, Nespresso is investing over R$70 million annually into the Brazilian value chain, focusing on regenerative agriculture through its Sustainable Quality Plan and the Advanced Regenerative Prize to improve soil health and biodiversity.
On the retail side, market activity is being driven by specialized events and seasonal product releases. In Florianópolis, the 4th Coffee Lovers Bistek event features over 100 coffee varieties and tastings. Concurrently, Starbucks is expanding its seasonal offerings in Brazil with the return of its Pumpkin Spice line, including new beverage options and physical activations in major cities like São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Curitiba.
