Brazilian environmental and mobility funding initiatives

Overview

Brazilian institutions have launched public calls for funding focused on sustainability and climate resilience.

Finep, the Brazilian Funding Authority for Studies and Projects, extended the deadline for its ‘Finep Mais Inovação Brasil – Rodada 2 – Mobilidade Sustentável’ initiative. This program offers R$ 203.8 million in non-reimbursable grants for high-risk innovation projects in air, water, rail/metro, and micromobility. To promote decentralization, 30% of the funds are reserved for the North, Northeast, and Center-West regions.

Separately, the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES) extended the application deadline for its ‘Territórios da Restauração – Bacias Resilientes’ call. This initiative provides up to R$ 120 million for projects targeting water security and climate change adaptation. The funding aims to support ecological restoration in river basins supplying major urban centers, including Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, and Fortaleza.
