Overview

The Brazilian Federal Police (Polícia Federal) has initiated an accreditation process for firearms and shooting instructors to comply with the Disarmament Statute (Law 10.826/2003). These instructors are responsible for certifying the technical capacity of individuals applying to purchase, register, or carry firearms.

While initial reports focused on registration opening in São Paulo, the scope of the accreditation notices extends across seven state superintendencies: Rio de Janeiro, Paraíba, Piauí, Maranhão, Bahia, Ceará, and São Paulo.

The accreditation is free of charge and remains valid for four years. The selection process requires candidates to pass four mandatory elimination exams: a written test on legislation and mechanics, a practical shooting test, an oral exam, and a weapon assembly and disassembly test involving revolvers, pistols, and 12-gauge shotguns.
