Bridge infrastructure suffered widespread impacts. Heavy rains linked to the 2026 El Niño shifted the Rio das Antas bridge 20 cm, leading to its closure and a detour onto BR‑470. The Ponte Prefeito Leôncio Miranda was declared irreparably damaged and ordered for demolition; the ERS 129 bridge was fully blocked. Conversely, the Hormínio bridge was refurbished, a community‑built crossing over the Rio Caí was damaged again, and the cross‑border Bioceánica bridge completed its final structural joining, advancing a bi‑continental corridor.

Recovery efforts expanded to mental‑health support: the Hospital Moinhos de Vento’s Recomeçar RS program delivered 917 counseling sessions and 94 full therapy cycles. The Associação Brasileira de Municípios issued a Practical Guide for Super El Niño, outlining prevention, emergency response and post‑disaster recovery for municipal leaders.
