Brazilian municipal film funding initiatives

In July 2026, Campo Grande was incorporated into Brazil's national Arranjos Regionais policy, launching three new audiovisual grant programmes aimed at short‑film production, festivals, film clubs and training. Managed locally by the Municipal Fund for Cultural Investments, the initiative sought to distribute federal resources more evenly and raise the city's profile in national and international circuits.

A week later, the municipalities of Campinas and Maricá announced their own incentive schemes. Campinas began a 24‑month pilot to streamline film permits, create a location‑image bank and catalogue local professionals, with a view toward assessing economic and cultural impacts. Maricá introduced the Filmar Maricá 2026 program, offering up to R$20 million across two public calls for development and production of fiction, documentary and animation projects, contingent on substantial local shooting. Together, these moves illustrate a rapid expansion of city‑level support for Brazil's audiovisual sector.
