Brazilian prosecutor offices training on procurement law
Overview
Public prosecutor offices in Brazil are conducting specialized training programs to address the implementation of the new Bidding and Contracts Law (Law No. 14,133/2021).
In the Federal District and Territories, the MPDFT scheduled a month-long initiative for September 2026. This program includes lectures and workshops focused on contract planning, management, and supervision, with an emphasis on transparency and efficiency. The initiative also includes the launch of a Contractual Management and Supervision Manual.
Similarly, the Public Prosecutor's Office of the State of Mato Grosso (MPMT) held a training course from September 14 to 18, 2026. This program, led by specialists, covered the procurement lifecycle and addressed innovations such as new bidding modalities, direct contracting, and contractual sanctions to ensure legal security in the administration of public resources.
As part of broader institutional training and coordination efforts, the MPMT is also hosting courses on the New Bidding and Contracts Law to train public managers. Other regional initiatives by the MPMT include training sessions for various municipalities to strengthen child and adolescent protection, and meetings with the Mato Grosso Court of Justice (TJMT) to improve electronic monitoring for domestic violence aggressors.
In mid-September 2026, the MPMT continued its institutional efficiency efforts by conducting training programs for civil servants focused on the New Bidding and Contracts Law and advanced investigative techniques. However, due to building maintenance, in-person services at the MPMT headquarters in Cuiabá will be partially suspended starting September 21.
