Breast cancer awareness initiatives in Latin America

Overview

Various community events were organized across Venezuela and Mexico to promote breast cancer awareness and early detection during ‘Pink Month’.

In Maracaibo, Venezuela, the local Mayor’s Office and the Municipal Institute of Sport and Recreation planned a fitness festival at Vereda del Lago park to conclude the awareness month. The free event was expected to host over 1,000 participants for activities including functional training and cardio fit.

In Cabimas, Venezuela, the fifth annual ‘Marea Rosa’ featured a 5K walk with more than one thousand participants. This initiative has historically provided medical consultations, specialized studies, and psychological support to over one thousand people. Meanwhile, in Puerto Morelos, Mexico, the Municipal Women’s Institute organized the ‘Carrera Rosa’, a 3.5-kilometer race involving approximately 100 participants to emphasize the connection between physical activity and health.
