BRI Group healthcare service and insurance expansion

Overview

BRI has initiated several programs to expand its involvement in the Indonesian healthcare sector through service partnerships and insurance solutions.

Initially, BRI partnered with PT Prodia Widyahusada Tbk to offer exclusive healthcare services, including routine laboratory tests, medical check-ups, and genomic examinations, specifically for BRI Private and BRI Prioritas customers. Eligibility for free medical check-ups is based on a customer’s tier and total assets under management.

Subsequently, BRI Group subsidiaries expanded these efforts into the broader healthcare ecosystem. BRI Life began supporting the Coordination Among Insurance Providers (KAPJ) to integrate the National Health Insurance Program (JKN) with Supplementary Health Insurance (AKT), a move aimed at improving financing effectiveness and service quality. This initiative involves BPJS Kesehatan and various hospitals, with oversight from the Indonesian Ministry of Health and the Financial Services Authority (OJK). Additionally, BRI Insurance introduced medical malpractice insurance designed to provide risk management for doctors, medical staff, and hospital support elements.

Further regional expansions have been implemented through local branch offices. In Wonosari, BRI partnered with Kimia Farma to provide medical check-up services for retired customers during banking transactions to promote early health detection. In Surabaya, BRI Branch Office Pahlawan established a cooperation agreement with the Surabaya Central General Hospital (RSUP) to provide ATM and banking services within the hospital premises, facilitating financial transactions for patients and the public.
