Bridgestone Formula E tire supply partnership
Overview
Bridgestone has been named the exclusive tire supplier for the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, succeeding Hankook. The agreement, announced during a global premiere in Rome, will begin with the 2026/27 season and span four seasons through the 2029/2030 period.
The partnership coincides with the introduction of the Gen4 era, which features high-performance vehicles with significant upgrades, including a peak power of 600kW and permanent active all-wheel drive. These vehicles are expected to reach top speeds of 335km/h and accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 1.8 seconds.
To support these cars, Bridgestone is developing POTENZA Gen4 tires, including a specialized variant designed for heavy rain called the ‘POTENZA GEN4 for TYPHOON TYRE’.
Sustainability is a core element of the deal, as the tires will be composed of 65% recycled and renewable materials, such as silica from rice husks and carbon black from pyrolysis oil or end-of-life tires. Furthermore, the manufacturing processes for these tires will utilize 100% renewable energy. Bridgestone has also secured naming rights for four e-Prix events during the 2026/2027 season in Mexico City, Berlin, Shanghai, and Tokyo.
