Brindisi industrial reindustrialisation progresses

Overview

In late July 2026 local and regional officials began formalising plans to repurpose Brindisi’s large petro‑chemical complex, highlighted by a cornerstone ceremony for an Eni‑backed gigafactory. Funding for the broader Eni‑Versalis transformation in Priolo, Ragusa and Brindisi was raised from €2 billion to €2.5 billion. Urso also met with Lazio regional vice‑president Roberta Angelilli to secure land in Civitavecchia for further reindustrialisation.
