Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games preparations

Overview

Preparations for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games are advancing through infrastructure development and branding milestones in Queensland.

At North Ipswich Reserve, construction has commenced on a $40 million Western Grandstand. This two-storey facility, funded by the Australian Government, the Queensland Government, and the Ipswich City Council, is designed to provide seating for 2,199 spectators along with modern changerooms and media facilities. The project is intended to transform the venue into a national-standard precinct by late 2027.

Regarding Games branding, the first official emblem was unveiled in Cairns during a regional tour. In terms of major stadium works, a joint venture between BESIX Watpac and John Holland has emerged as the frontrunner for the construction of the 63,000-seat Brisbane Stadium at Victoria Park. While the project has encountered controversy, the Queensland government has stated it remains focused on delivering infrastructure under its $7.1 billion agreement with the commonwealth.
