British Army Light Mobility Vehicle procurement

Overview

The British Army is conducting a procurement competition for its Light Mobility Vehicle (LMV) program, which has a budget of up to £2 billion to replace aging Land Rover and Pinzgauer fleets.

In early September, Team Grenadier entered the Grenadier Enhanced Protection Vehicle (EPV) into the competition. The EPV is an armored version of the INEOS Grenadier featuring a steel cabin designed to meet NATO STANAG 2 standards for ballistic and blast protection. The consortium includes Hobson Industries, TVS Supply Chain Solutions, SMT Defence, and NMS UK, with armored cabins and upgrades handled in the United Kingdom.

By mid-September, Rheinmetall UK and Mercedes-Benz UK announced a strategic partnership called ‘Team Wolf’ to support the program. This proposal utilizes the Mercedes-Benz W464 platform to create a ‘Wolf Pack’ family of vehicles, including the Timber Wolf and Silver Wolf models. Rheinmetall intends to use its Telford facility as a Vehicle Integration Centre to lead military integration, mission systems, and testing.
