This service, utilizing VCF 9, is designed to integrate enterprise private cloud with AI infrastructure by targeting hardware capital expenditure, operational complexity, and token economics. It includes features such as NVMe memory tiering, cluster-wide storage deduplication, and enhanced GPU tracking to optimize resource usage. The shift toward VCF is significantly impacting cloud partnerships and market structure. Microsoft has announced it will stop selling bundled VMware licenses—which include vSphere, vCenter, vSAN, and NSX—as part of its Azure VMware Solution (AVS) after October 31, 2026. Following this cutoff, new AVS deployments will no longer have access to the bundled model, and existing users must transition to the AVS VCF Bring Your Own License (BYOL) model by August 30, 2027. As organizations reach the end of legacy multi-year contracts, the transition toward subscription licensing and product bundling is leading to significant cost increases. This is prompting enterprises to question whether the costs of maintaining VMware’s platforms align with the value provided, leading managed service providers to evaluate alternatives such as Azure Virtual Machines, Google Compute Engine, and Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization.
