On 3 August 2026 Brookfield Asset Management announced it had completed the purchase of the remaining 26 % of Oaktree Capital Management for roughly $3 billion, bringing its stake to 100 % and integrating Oaktree’s credit platforms with Brookfield’s broader investment business. The deal confirmed that Oaktree’s ownership of Inter Milan would remain unchanged.

Two days later, on 5 August 2026 Brookfield reported a record $77 billion of new capital raised in the second quarter, pushing assets under management past $1 trillion. The company highlighted strong inflows into private‑equity, infrastructure and a new AI‑infrastructure fund, and said the recently completed Oaktree acquisition strengthens its credit capabilities. Quarterly results showed notable increases in fee‑related earnings, distributable earnings and net income.
