BUAP initiatives in Puebla

In early July 2026, the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP) signed a cooperation agreement with the Puebla Electoral Tribunal, establishing a formal partnership between the university and the regional electoral authority.

A month later, BUAP announced progress on a regional water‑treatment project aimed at restoring the ecological balance of Puebla’s river basins. The initiative will deploy natural zeolite and physicochemical processes to improve wastewater treatment and secure potable water supplies. At the same time, the university’s rector oversaw the enrollment of roughly 23,000 new undergraduate students for the upcoming fall and spring terms, coordinating admissions through the Arena BUAP facility. Additionally, a state deputy introduced an amendment to the Puebla Municipal Organic Law to strengthen municipal staff training on human rights, gender equality, non‑discrimination and inclusion.

These developments show BUAP expanding its institutional collaborations, advancing environmental infrastructure, and scaling up its academic intake while supporting broader social‑policy reforms in the state.
