Overview

In early July 2026, the City of Buenos Aires launched BAX, a free artificial‑intelligence‑driven virtual assistant that unifies all municipal digital services into a single Android and iOS app. Users can interact via chat, voice or image, schedule appointments, track procedures, retrieve personal documents such as birth certificates, and receive information about local events.

Secretary of Innovation and Digital Transformation Raúl Piola said the tool cuts processing times from 15–20 minutes to under a minute. Within three weeks of its 2 July release, the app logged more than 110 000 downloads, over 1 million total views and more than 125 000 spoken or text conversations with its AI agents. Mayor Jorge Macri highlighted that Buenos Aires is the first city worldwide to combine conversational and transactional AI at this scale and outlined plans to expand BAX as part of the city’s broader digital‑transformation strategy.
