Buenos Aires provincial security infrastructure expansion
Overview
Buenos Aires Governor Axel Kicillof has inaugurated new bases for the Tactical Immediate Operations Unit (UTOI) to enhance security and crime prevention in the province.
In late July, a new facility was opened in Lomas de Zamora, located within the Albertina Water Park. This base houses over 100 permanent agents and is equipped with modern patrol vehicles, cameras, and artificial intelligence tools. The inauguration also included the delivery of two high-complexity ambulances for the local emergency system.
In late August, a second UTOI base was inaugurated in Florencio Varela. This facility is intended to be staffed by 120 officers and 30 intermediate commanders. During the event, seven new police vehicles were deployed for local patrolling. Kicillof used the occasion to emphasize the importance of territorial presence and to criticize the national government under Javier Milei for reducing resource transfers to the province.
